April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) began her musical journey as a 7th grader when she started guitar and piano classes. In April, when she was 12 years old when she wrote her first single called Different. At 14 April, she spent a lot of time writing songs and honed her music abilities. Soon after she began taking trips to write with her father, who lived in NY in New York and LA. April featured other topics in her song"Take my Hand. These topics were meant for the friends of hers who struggled with things like peer pressure and disabilities, or even teenage suicidal thinking. Lockhart is also gaining a growing fan base as a lifestyle blogger and is employed by the renowned Clean Beauty company Ilia. Lockhart was never born with a left-hand, which is the reason she's the person she is. However, that's not the whole story. As a result Lockhart's Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her disability, but it doesn't center around her disability as well. The message? It is important to remember that each of us has multiple faces. Our identities are varied and we're much more than our bodies. Lockhart says in a video interview with Lockhart via video "I am not convinced that my physical appearance is what defines me. It's not my intention to influence disability, because I've plenty to offer." The issue doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about the same way as I always do and have come up with my own methods to adjust. Because it's part of who I am It's a topic worthy of talking about. Lockhart encourages us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. Lockhart admits to having been through phases in her life with her physique, feeling insecure at times to wear clothing that displayed the arms of her. It's her choice to wear what she likes, and proudly shares photos of her in these outfits. The key to self-love for her is the fact that it's not a destination. This is true for everyone regardless of their level of insecurity. The people around you with, who know your personal story and who can look through your eyes are the best people to help you remember what you're concerned about.
